Embodied Interventions 2025
Open call

Ruminations on Plurality

Curated by Esteban Donoso and Michele Fiedler Fuentes

Deadline March 21, 2025

Embodied Interventions is a performative showcase involving students from LePARC research cluster and beyond. This year’s program, titled Ruminations on Plurality, will consist of a series of exchanges, workshops and performances where participants can act as an intruder’s eye on each other’s proposals in order to signal towards questions, concerns and opacities and to provide different perspectives. We will approach performance through ruminating, as in deploying repetitive ways of
relating to our environments and processing information. By attending to the plurality of identities that dwell within our hybrid bodies, we aim to get in touch with movements and voices that display
multiple influences.

We are placing this open call for artists and/or researchers who have a work-in-progress that they are interested in contextualizing within discussions of the body, performance and performativity, which they are willing to share with others and develop in a collective process. In the space of two weeks, the proposed works will undergo a process of collective rumination, surrendering to collective thinking and sharing of ideas, tools and visions. The final outcomes can take different forms: a workshop, a collaborative experiment, a special appearance, a critical response, etc. or, they will just murk the waters of the self further.

Participants will be provided a small fee, space and basic technical assistance to practice and present their work, as well as documentation of the final presentation. This call for proposals is open to LePARC and Milieux members, as well as the wider Concordia community.

In order to apply, please fill out this form. Participants are expected to attend two collective work
sessions in addition to the showings. The work sessions will start around
April 30th, and the final
presentations will take place over the course of
May 16, 17 and 18 in four spaces within Concordia–
Concordia Black Box, Mini-Box, Milieux Video Production Studio and Le PARC Performance Lab.
These spaces will be available for rehearsals and workshops starting
May 7th.
